Революція гідності : вибір європейського майбутнього

Abstract

The article examines the process of clarifying the main characteristics of the Revolution of Dignity, individual stages in the European integration of Ukraine from 2013 to 2022, and the impact of the ‘hybrid war’ on the protection of European values of Ukraine based on a comprehensive analysis, generalization and critical analysis of available sources and scientific research. The article uses the methods of synthesis and analysis, specific and special historical methods, including, historical-genetic, historical-typological, historical-comparative, retrospective, structural-functional, specific-search and problem-chronological methods. The Ukrainian revolution at the turn of 2013–2014, known as ‘Euromaidan’, is a special political phenomenon that was expressed in the form of peaceful popular resistance. Ukraine preserved its independence from imperial Russia, getting rid of Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage, who constantly sacrificed the country’s national interests and were ready to surrender them completely, and also confirmed its path in the direction of European development. Russia did not stop trying to return Ukraine to its sphere of influence, seizing Crimea shortly after the events on the Maidan and occupying part of the territory of Donbas. However, the military, who defended these principles that the Maidan stood for, remain on the front lines and are still fighting the enemy for Ukrainian values. The international community recognized and supported the aspirations of the Ukrainian people for European integration after the events of the Revolution of Dignity. This stimulated more active efforts of the country in the direction of joining the European Union and NATO. The article examines the main reasons that prompted the Ukrainian people to peaceful protests that turned into the Euromaidan and were called ‘the Revolution of Dignity’. Russia’s hybrid war against Ukraine in 2014-2022 and its significance for the protection of Ukraine’s European values are analyzed. Funding. У статті досліджено процес з’ясування на основі всебічного аналізу, узагальнення та критичного осмислення доступних джерел і наукових досліджень основних характеристик Революції Гідності, окремих етапів в євроінтеграції України з 2013 по 2022 роки та вплив «гібридної війни» на захист європейський цінностей України. У статті використано методи синтезу та аналізу, конкретно- і спеціальноісторичні методи, зокрема, історико-генетичний, історико-типологічний, історикопорівняльний, ретроспективний, структурно-функціональний, конкретнопошуковий та проблемно-хронологічний методи. Українська революція на зламі 2013-2014 років, відома як «Євромайдан», є особливим політичним явищем, яке було виражене у формі мирного народного супротиву. Україна зберегла свою самостійність від імперської Росії, позбавившись Віктора Януковича та його оточення, які постійно жертвували національними інтересами країни й готові були їх віддати повністю, а також підтвердила свій шлях у напрямку європейського розвитку. Росія не припинила спроб повернути Україну в своє впливове коло, захопивши невдовзі після подій на Майдані Крим та окупувавши частину території Донбасу. Однак військові, які захищали ці принципи, що відстоював Майдан, залишаються на передовій й досі борються з ворогом за українські цінності. Міжнародна спільнота відзначила та підтримала прагнення українського народу до європейської інтеграції після подій Революції Гідності. Це стимулювало активніші зусилля країни у напрямку вступу до Європейського Союзу та НАТО. У статті розглянуто основні причини, які спонукали український народ до мирних протестів, що переросли в Євромайдан та отримали назву “Революція Гідності”. Проаналізовано гібридну війну Росії проти України в 2014-2022 рр. та її значення для захисту європейських цінностей України. Фінансування.
